In 1997 the museum opened its library addition, one room of which is pictured at the left. There are three other archival storage rooms. The museum has a part time librarian who can be available by appointment to help researchers to use the library. The library is open to museum members at the Black Helmet Brigade Level and above, as well as to scholars involved in research on the history of firefighting.

| National Fire Protection Association Quarterly Journals and related publications. |
| Fire related magazines, such as Fire Engineering and FireHouse. |
| Fire apparatus collector magazines, such as Enjine!Enjine and Fire Apparatus Journal. |
| Fiction related to a wide variety of firefighting subjects. |
The museum's part time librarian can be available by appointment to assist users of the library by appointment. The museum does not loan its library holdings.
