National Firefighting Hall of Heroes

Firehouse Magazine Rescue Award Winners for 1997

Firehouse Magazine honors firefighters from the United States for acts of heroism in its April edition.  Firehouse has done so since 1978.  Candidates for the award are submitted by their fire departments and selected by a board of fire professionals.  Competition is intense.

Following publication of its April edition, Firehouse sends the records and photographs to the Hall of Flame, where they are housed for permanent referral by Firehouse Magazine staff members.

Hall of Flame staff members use the records to create displays for the National Firefighting Hall of Heroes.  Winners are recognized on the walls of the gallery.  The photographs and citations are usually more extensive than that

which appears in the April edition of Firehouse because the Hall of Heroes does not have the space constraints of the magazine.

Rescue Award winners for 1997, 1998, 1999 , 2000  and 2001 are now published on this web site.  Please use it as a supplement to the fine work of Firehouse Magazine

We encourage our visitors to examine the web site of Firehouse Magazine.  It is a mine of information for anyone interested in American firefighting.  Visitors to the Firehouse website can make arrangements to subscribe to the  magazine directly from the site.

Its URL is http://www.firehouse.com.

This directory lists the winners for 1997, in the same order in which they are displayed in the Hall of Heroes.   These firefighters were recognized in the April 1998 Issue of Firehouse Magazine.
